Has anyone been able to set a Valor Fireplace to full high flame or full low flame using a Bond Bridge?

I have a Valor fireplace, and Bond Bridge successfully learns the dual-press ON (pilot) and the single press OFF from the remote, as well as INCREASE and DECREASE flame in increments.

What i cant seem to get to work is to set the flame all the way to high/low. On my Valor Max remote (RTD-G6RH) this is acheived by double clicking the decrease or increase flame buttons. However the signals the Bond Bridge learns from doing that doesnt work on the fireplace. (there is an older forum post that mentions this, and a potential solution of adding reps via the API was mentioned: Valor G4 Gas Insert - #3 by residualimages ).

I successfully changed the reps using curl PATCH command (as the OP mentions in the above linked thread - he says he got the PATCH to work, NOT that he successfully got his Bond to set the flame height) thanks to one of the Bond engineers that made this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWOH2WqzNOU

However, the repeated increase and decrease flame signals did not set the flame height - possibly the repeats might be sending too slowly or too quickly, or the valor remote is doing something more complex like sending one signal on the first press and then another on the second press. Either way adding reps did not work for me. The fireplace beeps like it has received a signal, but i think its just getting the first increment down/up signal, and ignoring the second repeat. On the Valor Max remote this can be replicated by pressing the increment button too soon after doing it once, but not so fast as to count as a ā€˜double clickā€™ - the fireplace ignores the second press so you have to wait for a brief moment between increments.

Has anyone been able to get the Bond Bridge to set max/min flame heights on Valor Fireplaces?

Similar issue here. It learned the basics fine, but no luck getting full high/low with the double press. I played around with the API and increased reps, which helped a little, but itā€™s still hit or miss. During a yearly chimney check with a local Dallas chimney & fireplace tech, they noticed the receiver in my unit was a bit finicky with learned signals. That small adjustment actually made things more responsive.

Not sure on how fast the double click is, but maybe it is possible to get just the second one to check if the second signal is somehow differentā€¦

I would try to do that by tapping the ā€œstart scanā€ button in the app at the same moment as the first remote button press, but again, Iā€™m not sure if it is possible or will help.

I had prior used the patch and it worked to simulate a press and hold, but I could not get it to work for min and max, though I was able to record those with a lot of trial and error. For whatever reason Low was easier to record than Hi, I had to try about 10 times to grab the code for that. When you you double press successfully the remote shows ā€œHiā€ or ā€œLowā€ on its LCD screen, so I assume its sending a discrete RF code and not just 2 flame up commands repeated, it seems to be a different hex value in the signal. I am not sure if Bond listens long enough to capture itā€¦

Is there a way to share recorded commands? You can probably grab the HEX value for the signal below and PATCH it similar to how the reps works (unless there is a better way), this is what my Bond bridge is sending for Set Hi/Max Flame.

No need to paste the others, Bond can record On which is a two-button combo and Flame Down easily enough.

While the Patch command works, I notice there is a button Type of ā€œtapā€ā€¦ I wonder if there is a better way to simulate a press and hold so long as you press the UI button it continuously sends a command rather than programming a predefined number of Reps for a given tap of a button. Within the App itself I donā€™t see a way to change the button type.

It has been a very long time since I worked with the button types, but I do know that you can set it to momentary, which Bond will keep sending the signal until you press the button again, and then it will send a secondary signal, but Iā€™m not very into itā€¦

Maybe you can try changing the button type and let me know if that works, and we can go deeper into it during this week.
