V3.19.x-beta Firmware for Bridges

If you and the other folks experiencing issues in this thread could DM me your Bond IDs, we can check manufacturing records to glean more info.

Thanks all for sharing the Bond IDs. Effected units seem to come from just a 2-month period of production that was not part of our Q/A testing. We’ve dug up some units from the closets here with matching date codes and reproduced the problem. We are working on determining root cause and :crossed_fingers: with some luck, have a fix version out shortly… will update here.

BTW Here’s a video from one of our engineers showing the issue as we observed it. Would be nice to know from @sburke781 @Krustyjonez if your unit does the same LED ring behavior when on the problematic beta.

Yes, mine flickered as well

I signed up just so I could give you feedback on my update situation. Before fully reading the forum I went ahead and tried updating to 3.19.3. I didn’t have a backup, and have never had any problems with any previous firmware update. I’ve owned my Bond for about 4 years. The ID starts with ZZCC.

It ended with a solid white ring and about four solid LED towards the center. Attempts to “white reset” did nothing. “Rescue reset” worked and I have been able to gain control again. With only the hub added in the app I attempted to go to 3.19.3 again with the same results. I noticed progress hung at 88% and the white ring appeared. Eventually the progress “completed” even though the hub seems non-responsive with the white ring.

I was able to “rescue reset” once again, update to 3.17.4 and have re-added my four fans. I’m on android and can’t access the back-up files. I can’t seem to send you a private message, but I will send/post my ID or give more information if you request.

BTW, my update attempts end up similar to your clip.

Aside:

Welcome to the community - you might try to DM Merck again now.

Mine actually had no light at all. It appeared dead. When I hit reset, it would light the white ring, then the white ring turned off, I could
see the blue leds flash 3x, and I believe it would start again.

Mine was purchased back in 2020… White ring like the video

@merck will the fix address the orange ring issue I’m having?

@Trial_Master No, but I did just hear from our customer service manager that a user had a similar issue with that router! It was resolved by disabling “airtime fairness” in the router settings. — We think that this “airtime fairness” issue was a problem we previously had and apparently was re-introduced in this beta firmware. We will try to fix it, but it’s a different fix than for the “stuck on flickering blue/white”.

@merck well aware of the Airtime Fairness setting. I just checked to confirm nothing had changed but can confirm both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are disabled and have been for years.

I’m having the same issue. Tried twice but it won’t go to 3.19. So I reset again and decided to go to the stable build. I have a ZZDE unit.

@cirrusflyer @sburke781 @KMDonlon @Krustyjonez @Kevdog : We’ve just released v3.19.6-beta for units starting ZZ. This build seems to fix the issue where units were getting stuck and needing to be rescue reset. — I know it’s a PitA but I’d appreciate it if we could get some feedback from some of you as to whether this .6 version finally let’s you guys upgrade successfully. It works on our ZZDE/ZZDF units here… :crossed_fingers:

That did it, excellent work!!

I took a backup, applied the update and was able to control my existing somfy motors.

Thanks so much for your efforts on this

@sburke781 THANKS! That means a lot to me, given all the trouble that you went thru, that you were still willing to try out this build… and of course that it actually works for you. :confetti_ball:

(We did not get all the way down to the metal yet on the root cause analysis…)

Thanks for keeping us in mind! I tried, it won’t take the firmware update. :frowning:

Stops at 64 %. I would post more screenshots but my account is too new.

Weird. What’s the current firmware version? We did have some internal/alpha versions (v4.0.x) with a serious upgrade problem like what you describe, but no release version (v3.17.4, v3.19.1-beta, etc.) were impacted based on our records.

Actually, it appears to be stuck again and offline/not booting, with just a blue light permanently lit. :frowning:

I can chime in here as well. I have a ZZDE model, & this .6 version did install with no issues. I did, much like is being described here, have issues last week with I think it was the .3 beta, & I did have the weird blinking / winking white/blue status, similar to the video posted above. At the time I knew from memory how to fully hard reset the device & restore original firmware, so I ended up finding the forum article after the fact. I know I am late in chiming in, but if any backups or logs are useful LMK…

I have not performed a full spread of testing all of the devices I have connected to the BOND, but after the successful install of this .6 beta, I did try a couple of items & they worked as expected. I mainly have a mixture of ceiling fans, & some IR remotes & RF remotes. I do also use the available HomeBridge plugin to shunt into HomeKit, & that as well worked with verbal commands to Siri on HomePods. I’m curious if the discussed Matter integration I read at the top of the forum chain, might end up negating the need for that plugin?

Def LMK if any files are of use to send to to you. I’d be happy to assist. I see from the post a few hours ago, the full root causes are not as yet fully identified.
