Local API BETA -- How to Set Up

Who

If your BOND’s serial number starts with ZZ, you do not need these instructions. Your BOND already supports the Local API. Hack away!

If your BOND’s serial number starts with A or B, then read on.

Warning

There is a chance that some of your devices will stop working after an upgrade (please let us know if you experience this!). If that sounds like a dealbreaker, please wait until we have a production-ready firmware.

We have an early version of BOND Firmware supporting the Local API ready for you. But it’s not entirely stable, so please only upgrade if you intend on focusing on working with the Local API and don’t mind some interruption to normal operation of your BOND.

How to Upgrade

This special firmware is available only via the BETA iOS and Android apps. You have or will receive an invite to Fabric (Android) and TestFlight (iOS) to get these BETA apps shortly.

To upgrade your BOND to get Local API support:

  1. Download the most recent version of the BETA app.
  2. Go to BOND Settings, and tap on Firmware upgrade.

How to Downgrade

If you decide you want to go back to old firmware, you will need to perform a “Rescue Reset” of your BOND. To do this:

  1. Unplug the BOND.
  2. Keep unplugged for 15 sec.
  3. Hold down the reset button.
  4. Plug in the BOND.
  5. Release the reset button only when the BONDs White lights blink.
  6. Setup BOND using the App Store v1.138.0 (not 1.139.0) version of the App.

Note: All devices and settings will be lost after this reset. :frowning:
