I add the fan and lights for it to the bond, but then i get ujnresponsive when trying to use it in the amazon app. works on the bond app though.
My recent experience with alexa’s unresponsive messages on several devices have giving me some doubt about alexa operational performance,
As an example, I have 7 smart plugs that running under zigbee controlled by HUE which has been my choice over Alex echo plus with multiple unexplained failures when them directly controlling by echo plus. The recent case which reoccurs almost daily, 1 plug controlling my hot water circulation pump is more often listed in alexa’s device list as unresponsive whereas it is functioning not only in the HUE process but also working without any issue with my alexa schedule routine. Any attempt to detach and reattach the device has mostly failed as to detach and reattach the HUE skill, restarting HUE or alexa echo. At times the device suddenly emerges as responsive on the alexa device listing without any common sense but doesn’t persist,
In another case a zigbee plug controlling power to an outside shade also zigbee controlled by HUE showed unresponsive in the alexa device listing, In this case I traced it back to a device property update that I made in the HUE database to give it the plug symbol which was not chosen when I initially entered it to the HUE database, As it now occurs on the alexa device list, 2 devices are getting listed with the original remaining with unresponsive status while a new device with the same name but a different symbol associated shows up as operative. There is clearly a problem with how alexa handles device property updates when reloading data from the HUE system, Rather than overwriting the existing device with the updated property it keeps the old one anyway,
So I suspect in your case there is a confusion in the alexa database which at least ends up declaring some case of mismatch with the device you have in Bond operating properly.
I also have this issue with Alexa that has been upgraded to “Alexa+”. I’m curious if Bond can confirm or deny that this is a known issue? I have been trying to troubleshoot it for months to no avail - if it’s a known issue I will just wait it out, or consider other workarounds.
The Bond app itself works fine, it’s just the Alexa+ integration - through the Alexa app or using voice commands - the fan controls no longer work. Alexa+ FINDS the devices from Bond, but you can’t control them.
Re: Alexa+ issues: strange because Alexa docs show that no changes needed on our side, should just work.
If it helps, here’s my setup.
Bond Bridge: Model BD-1000
Firmware: v3.3.13-beta
From Bond iOS App, connected devices work as expected.
From Alexa+ App or using an Alexa device, Bond devices do NOT respond, tho they are identified.
“Device is unresponsive”
I have tried:
Flashing the Bond device and starting over.
Deactivating the Bond → Alexa integration, re-activating it.
Deleting each device identified in Alexa and having it rediscover the Bond devices.
After discovery, it does find the previously deleted item and adds it.
When I enter the device detail, and choose to toggle from off to on: “Device is not responding. The switch may be off or the device is unplugged.”
Bond has “just worked” for so long, we really miss it now that it’s not reliable for us. Looking for a replacement if we can’t get this working again.
Thanks for responding.
