Just wanting to understand how this should appear for existing awnings? If the BETA update I installed for the hub / app does not include it yet, that’s fine… Just wanting to work out if I am missing something…
Somfy Glydea motors are designed to be up for open just like a roller. Certain sun sensors would not work properly if they were reversed.
The same goes for awnings, wind sensors send up commands and sun send down commands. Hopefully inverse command is just for the label UI and not the command it self, as this could be problematic for users with “security type sensors” such as a wind sensor. Just my 2 pennies worth.
Your Glydea was programmed wrong. It should be down for close.
There are no existing awnings . Everybody until this version have added their awnings as “Shades”. Bond Home has no idea that they are actually an awnings.
You could probably “migrate” your shade to an awning by PATCHing the devices/{}.subtype to “AWNING”, but I haven’t tested that. Sure-fire way would be to unpair & delete the old “Shade” and then reprogram as an Awning.
Totally agree. We do the inversion on our firmware side. No change is made to the motor’s programming. So it continues to respond to remote controls and weather sensors the same way it always has.
Hi!
I’ve just received by bond home bridge and noticed you’ve for the RTS Awning in.
The controls for open and closed are still inverted though.
Was this resolved in the sprint you mentioned?
Thanks
CB
Huh. Let me as some questions:
When you press “down” on the Somfy remote, what happens:
- Does the awning extend or retract?
- Does the awning open or close?
- Does the awning move downwards or move upwards?
And then same question for the down (open) button in the app for Somfy RTS Awning.
Seems like a redundant question, but there’s some differences here, would appreciate your describing the experience a bit more.
Yea- apologies, I think I got my meanings mixed up!
I was defining it as my roof was open or closed which would be the opposite of a closed or open awning.
When I looked a little closer at the arrows.
Sorry for the confusion, n00b mistake.
You’re feedback is very helpful, actually. Our job in UX is to make this product noob-proof. It’s tough with awnings, bottom-up shades, and drapes. Still working on it.
I’m glad to hear that. As ours is used as a retractable “roof” it did confuse me a bit at first. I still catch myself going to “close” rather than open but I’ve taught myself to look at the icon, not the word.
Thanks!
Ahhhh! So roofs (and maybe pergolas) are different from awnings after all. OMG this changes everything
I’m in Australia here and I’ve just retrofitted my roller blinds with a Somfy SONESSE 30 WireFree RTS LI-ION motor.
I had to reverse the motor on install. The remote correctly uses up for raising the roller blind (aka open), and down for lowering it (aka close) but in the Bond app, which was simple to setup BTW, they are reversed.
It would be great to get a simple option to reverse/swap these under Advanced Settings.
Hey Jon – Thanks for explaining your situation and annotating with the raise/open terminology.
I’m not sure what’s going on to be honest. From all the Somfy remotes I’ve seen, the Up button sends what we call the RAISE
command, and the Down button sends the LOWER
command. We do the same on the Bond platform.
But, based on what you tell me, you would want to invert the RAISE/LOWER commands. This is indeed an option we could expose in a later firmware. Noted. We need this along with ways to invert the raise-open and retract-open relationships.

That’s correct.
If you look at the user manual in section 2.3.3 you’ll see there is a step during setup that reverses the rotation direction.
From what you’re saying I suspect in this configuration the remote reverses the commands it sends.
In my experience, that procedure causes a reversal in the motor not the remote. You can test this by using one remote to perform this reversal procedure, and then note how control is reversed on a different remote paired to the same shade.

I don’t have a 2nd remote, and if that were the case in my instance then I’d expect the Bond app wouldn’t be going in the wrong direction? Whatever the cause, I’ll look forward to a future firmware and app supporting the reversed commands. Thanks.
Hi Folks,
Just thought I would chime in on this discussion as it popped up in a search
I installed the Bond Bridge today and have it operating a Simu HZ (Somfy) powered garage rollerdoor
Bond install was a breeze and it works great
Using the RTS profile …
Close button in the app opens (retracts) the rollerdoor (Same as up button on Simu Remote)
Open button in the app closes the rollerdoor (Same as down button on Simu Remote)
I included a picture of the remote for info
Would also be handy to have the ability to swap them in the app
Cheers
Scott (Australia)
Just wondering if this is on the backlog for development? I’ve just wired in some automations in Node Red Home Assistant and instead of a single node telling it to open multiple covers I’ve had to setup duplicate nodes that send a close cover command via the Bond Bridge.
Yes, totally on our backlog. We’re working mostly on shipping Sidekick (Bond Sidekick | Bond), but polishing up the V3 firmware in next weeks which will include the new Raise actions etc.
I see there is a Beta of v3 firmware out. Does this include this option to invert the commands?
Not at this time. But it is something we will be adding in the foreseeable future.
