To be clear, BD-1000 is a model number that was maintained between the first generation (A/B serials) and second generation (ZZ serials) Bridges. — A marketing mistake we will not make again!
So what matters is the serial number, not the model number in this case.
This worked perfectly for me, thank you! I had paid for the Zigbee controller in several of my smartwings shades, but controlling them through the bond bridge is way more reliable.
OMG. I have been struggling forever with my zigbee shades. I saw this thread and added two rooms as a test. It couldn’t have gone any smoother. Still playing with it but looks very promising. Presume I keep zigbee connection to monitor battery? Not sure what else I need it for.
Following on from this life changing shade control event, I was wondering about grouping. Ideally I want to get to the point that all shades in the room open and close at the same time, as it does with the Smartwings remote.
First I thought I could try learning the remote by putting it in all shades mode and then pressing the P button. None of the shades jog. So this doesn’t appear to work.
Then I tried recording the open and close commands from the all shades command. It got the command immediately but didn’t seem to play it back. But I don’t have the Bond hub in the same room. If it is thought that this approach could work I am happy to move the hub and play around with learning the commands.
Groups do not appear to be exposed to Hubitat. Still checking on that but I don’t see anything. Perhaps I can call the API directly to use the group. Looking into that.
Maybe you can get the motors in pairing mode one at a time, each time pairing with one motor. Then you’d add that remote control channel as a “master channel” in the app.
I’m starting to think we really should have a way to associate a master channel with a group so that you can use the highlevel group feature and get hembar alignment even for these manually recorded devices.
The group command does almost achieve this. It seems like it sends out the commands very quickly. The shades don’t open or close at exactly the same time but the difference is definitely in fractions of a second.
Question - does the group check to see if the shades actually do as they are told or simply sends out the commands? I built rules in Hubitat to wrap around the open and close zigbee commands to make sure that it is done. But now that I am switching over to Bond I wondered whether I still need to do that. I do see the odd shade that does open or close in the group every so often.
As of now, Bond Bridge on RF/IR is 100% one-way for control. So, it is fire-and-forget. Ironically, this is sometimes more reliable than the intended two-way control channel. That said, we would like to see 2-way control on the platform where you get real state feedback and an error if the shade is unreachable, but it is not possible with most of the RF/IR devices.
Wondering if anyone has had success with controlling multiple shades on the same channel at the same time. I have three shades that are all on channel #3 of my 5 channel remote. When I press the P button on the remote, those three of my shades jog, but I am unable to then control them from Bond - nothing happens via the app.
