I know A-OK with the mentioned remote is supported, but the pairing instructions in the Bond app require pressing the PGM button on the shade motor. My outdoor shades are sealed inside an aluminium cassette, so I do not have access to the motor or its buttons.
Is there any way to pair them by somehow copying the remote? I did this with my other indoor blinds from another brand, where I only needed the remote and did not have to press any buttons on the motor. Alternatively, any way to force the shades in pairing mode without pressing the PGM button?
Google AI (which I don’t trust) told me to press (push in a paperclip) the “Learn” at the back of the remote twice, at which point the blind should jog and enter pairing mode. But I don’t want to try this and potentially mess something up with the blind before someone can confirm it’s the same as pressing the “PGM” button at the blind motor?
Sorry to find you in a tricky situation that leaves me with several questions:
product purchased preassembled with associated remote?
was the remote originally already paired with the respective shade A-OK motor?
Is the motor hardwired to 120V or battery operated?
Did you get documentation from the supplier about the installation and operation/programming?
My expectations from multiple shade purchases with mostly self installation to the questions above is a YES.
So which aspect do I miss that lead to your situation?
Thanks for your reply. I actually managed to sort it out quite easily.
It would be great if the Bond team @merck could update the pairing instructions to include the method I used as an alternative to pressing the “PGM” button on the blind motor. This is super easy compared to accessing the motor, especially when it’s an outdoor blind and the motor is sealed off in a weatherproof cassette.
After some searching, I found the manual for the A-OK AC123 remote. Along with the usual setup instructions, it includes a section on adding an additional remote. All I had to do was press and hold the “STOP” (middle) button on the existing remote until the blind jogged. The manual then says to press the “UP” button on the new remote but, in my case of adding to Bond Bridge, I simply tapped “Pair” in the Bond app (after confirming the blind jogged). The Bond Bridge immediately recognised the blind, jogged it again, and added it to my home.
The Bond app currently only instructs users to press the “PGM” button on the blind motor. While that method works, it would be helpful to also include the remote pairing method as an alternative.
