Crestron commercial and Big Ass Fan Integration

I am working with a client that wants to use the Big Ass Fan I6 model in their home. We are using Crestron commercial (not home) for the home control system.

I was wondering if we could use the Bond Bridge Pro to work as an ethernet bridge between the Crestron controller and the i6 fan. Since the Bond bridge has Crestron drivers and has also has Big Ass Fan drivers.

Can you confirm this will work?

Thank you for your help

PLease consider the following options given online

The Big Ass Fans i6 ceiling fan connects to home automation platforms using built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), offering native support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Smart Home Integration Options

  • Home Assistant: The platform features a native integration that connects locally via push updates. As noted by Home Assistant, “The Big Ass Fans device was introduced in Home Assistant 2022.6, and it’s used by 1057 active installations. Its IoT class is Local Push.”
  • Voice Assistants: You can link the fan directly to Alexa or Google Home for hands-free adjustments. According to Big Ass Fans, “including the ability to use voice commands (via connected Alexa device) to control the fan and light, both power and speed/brightness.”

Right… but What I’m asking is.. will Bond Bridge act as a Bridge from Crestron Ethernet commands to the Wifi/ethernet Big Ass fans API ? Big Ass fans does not post their API and it was reworked for Google HOME/Alexa several years ago. So if Crestron has a bond bridge driver… and the Big Ass fan is linked to the Bond Bridge Pro… then I should be able to turn FAN OFF/ON and change speed from Crestron panel to Bond Bridge.. then Bond Bridge communicate to the fan. Correct?

You are running into a general issue in the automation arena with Crestron on an industrial (not home) directed approach not designed with broad compatibility in mind. At this point you are better of with a multi system approach under a supervisor to hide incompatibility at the sublevel.

The Bond Bridge would have to directly control the fan - I am unclear if this has been successfully attempted or not.

Yes, the Bond Bridge Pro works via Wi-Fi/IP with compatible smart Big Ass Fans, including the i6 model

How the Integration Works

  • IP-to-IP Connection: Unlike standard “dumb” RF-controlled ceiling fans that the Bond Bridge learns via radio frequencies, the Big Ass Fans integration on Bond Bridge Pro connects over your local network via Wi-Fi/IP. [1, 2, 3]

As noted in the Bond firmware documentation, “Big Ass Fans integration now available on Bond Bridge Pro. This is an IP-IP integration and limited to a small number of fans (approx 6).”
