Bond Sidekick Applicability

I currently have two Bridges at my home, one is a Pro and the other is the original. I just discovered the slider configuration was added to the Bridge Pro. I calibrated one shade to test and it works great from within the Bond App. However, in Alexa the slider does not work to change shade position. It can only do 100% or 0%. It shows a slider but doesn’t allow anything between 0-100. Any ideas on a solution to get Alexa to recognize the state % of the shade? I would like to build out routines for certain % states throughout the day for sunrise/sunset and need more than just one “favorite” position to have the ability to command.

If the above can be fixed, I am thinking of upgrading the other bridge to the Bond Bridge Pro to allow for shades that I would like to basically have 5 presets for; i.e. 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%.

I am wondering if there is a way to have a Bond Sidekick button basically operate a “scene” for 1 or 2 channels to a certain level?

i.e.

Button 1 - Channel one goes to 25%
Button 2 - Channel one goes to 50%
Button 3 - Channel one goes to 75%

Ideally it could be two channels but I understand if that is not feasible.

Conversely, if Bond Sidekick Buttons could transfer to HomeKit then those could trigger dummy switches that could then trigger routines in Alexa. And if I could fix the slider in Alexa this opens all the doors for me.

Would appreciate any ideas on this. Thanks

Here’s what you can do in the Bond Home app:

  • set Sidekick (Gen2+) to 3-, 6-, or 8-key mode (ok this is not in the app, you gotta do it using the menu codes from the quickguide)
  • add the Sidekick to the Bond Bridge Pro
  • link a key to SetPosition(25) on the first device
  • add another link to the same key to the second device
  • you should be able to link devices from both the BD-1000 and BD-1750, although only the BD-1750 will be listening for signals from the Sidekick. The 1750 will share the signals it receives from Sidekick with the 1000 via the network. This is how they both can take action based on Sidekick keypresses.

Make sense?

Interesting, I will try this. I think the issue with the 1000 is that it doesn’t support the slider functionality?

The BD-1000 supports sliders, but it doesn’t work with the Sidekick.
If you can’t set the slider for your devices on the BD-1000 check if there is a FW update available
