Bond+Home Assistant+Fan Remote update = confused (Newbie)

Hi, Ive been trying to figure this one out but I think I’m at a dead end…

so I have a wall switch that has three buttons in my new house, 1 button is for downlights lights in the living room front, the second button is for downlights lights in the living room middle. The bottom button is for the fan in the living room e.g on and off. So from what I understand I have a 3 gang switch. Now the fan button on the switch stays on all the time and the family use the remote to turn the fan off and on. I have home assistant also and I don’t want to use the remote but use the home assistant to turn it on and off which works fine as I have integrated the bond bridge. However I just want the state in home assistant to update to show me the status of the fan or light on the fan as I just cannot get it to work when the family use the fan remote. From what I understand this is common issue with people using the actual fan remote while wanting to use home assistant that doesn’t know about the RF signal changing the state, the bond has no idea it seems also as its not listening for that. Im open to any suggestions here but I’m so confused as I don’t think its possible to do what I want?

I’m following this post. Same thing for smartthings. I don’t think there is a fix for this problem yet.

You have to put the original remote away in a drawer, and use something that Home Assistant (or other smart home platform / controller) can use as a trigger instead - whatever combinations you feel like your family will respond well to. That, paired with Bond’s local network API, is the most reliable way to keep smart control of inherently un-smart RF one-way signals, even with a Bridge.

For instance, I use Insteon switches + remotes, as well as Logitech Harmony remotes and Bond Sidekick remotes to trigger fan on or off, speed, and light kit on/off (as well as color).
It is not necessarily the most simple to set up, and yes, even with pretty robust design occasionally something gets out of sync (power blips or whatnot being contributing factors).

That being said, a Bond Bridge Pro + Sidekick remotes, while not inexpensive and noted that it would still require putting the original remote away in a drawer, may be the lowest maintenance solution.

An alternative would be to find and change fans out to kinds which have discrete Fan ON vs Fan OFF (and potentially Light ON vs Light OFF) signals, but I don’t know if a good list of that kind of fan + remote.

Thanks @residualimages, I couldn’t write a better answer.

The Bond Bridge Pro + Sidekick remote is the solution I would suggest.
